Edisa Weeks/DELIRIOUS Dances is seeking support. Join the team as a Part-time Roots Making + Events Assistant!
In Spring 2022, Edisa Weeks and the DELIRIOUS team are hosting Roots Parties. She is looking for support in making roots kits and making roots prior to and during each of these events. DELIRIOUS will provide materials and supplies for making roots. Read below for details about roots, Roots Parties, compensation, and more.
What is a root? The roots are for a performance installation, 3 RITES: Liberty that will premiere at 651 ARTS in Brooklyn, NY in 2023. As part of the root making process, Edisa is having difficult conversations, with the goal of getting people to rethink prisons in America, and to give people actions they can do to support the prison abolition movement.
What is a Roots Party? Edisa has been hosting Roots Parties, which are a making and conversation space, where people are invited to join in the journey of making 1,865 roots out of paper and twine, while having a conversation about liberty and the prison system in America for years. You can watch a short 5 minute documentary about a Roots Party that was hosted at Williamsburg Public Library in Brooklyn, NYhere.
